The dual concept of the SC Universal Dual 3.0
January 12, 2026
The SC Universal Dual 3.0 stands for maximum freedom – a device that adapts to you, not the other way around! Find out in this blog how the dual concept enables PMU artists to work precisely, safely, and gently on the skin.

Steady Mode vs. Responsive Mode
With the Dual-Mode-System, you can tailor the SC Universal Dual 3.0's performance to the skin type, technique, and treatment goal.
In Steady Mode, the device operates at a constant, precise frequency. Each stroke can be controlled with precision – ideal for the finest details, clear lines, and situations where stability and repeatability are crucial.
Responsive Mode reacts dynamically to the natural resistance of the skin. The power adjusts in real time, which makes the workflow smoother, protects the skin, and significantly increases treatment comfort – especially for sensitive skin or larger areas.
Hertz vs. volts – two ways to achieve perfect control
The SC Universal Dual 3.0 can be set in either hertz (Hz) or volts (V) – depending on your personal working style and desired feel.
The Hertz setting defines the exact stitch frequency per second. A specific Hz number generates the same needle frequency on every device, ensuring maximum comparability, repeatability, and planning reliability. Ideal for technically precise work such as hair strokes, contours, and all applications where consistent results are crucial.
The voltage setting controls the power supplied and thus the perceived power and dynamic behavior of the device. Since factors such as the motor, stroke strength, electronics, and skin resistance influence the actual needle frequency, the same voltage can result in different needle speeds depending on the PMU device. This control feels particularly intuitive and is perfect for shading, lip pigmentation, and flat techniques.
PMU vs. dermaneedling – two areas of application. One device.
With a stroke length of 3.0 mm, the SC Universal Dual 3.0 offers sufficient power for safe, even pigment application in PMU applications. At the same time, low frequencies from 30 hertz enable particularly gentle operation.
This combination makes the device ideal not only for high-end PMU, but also for precise, skin-friendly derma needling: controlled perforation, less stress on the skin, and improved absorption of active ingredients – even in sensitive areas.
Whether controlled or dynamic, technically precise or intuitive, PMU or dermal needling – the SC Universal Dual 3.0 adapts to your working style. Two modes, two adjustment methods, two areas of application – a device that redefines professional freedom. Two modes, two settings, two areas of application – one device that redefines professional freedom.
