Eyeliner PMU - risk or responsible beauty treatment?
July, 18th, 2025
Permanent make-up (PMU) on the eyelid is one of the most popular techniques in the industry. Nevertheless, there are critical voices warning of side effects such as eyelid swelling, redness, allergic reactions or infections. Possible irritation of the sebaceous glands at the edge of the eyelid or potentially harmful ingredients in pigment colors are also mentioned.
These warnings are justified - but the risk is not caused by the method itself, but by improper application.

PMU is safe - if carried out professionally
Road traffic is a good example: it is not risk-free either. Nevertheless, we get into our cars every day without fear. We are trained for road traffic and have a driving license, our vehicles are TÜV-tested and there are fixed and controlled rules of conduct for our safety. All these protective mechanisms ensure that we always arrive at our destination safely, despite all the dangers.
The same applies to eyeliner permanent make-up: reputable pigmentation artists undergo in-depth training, work under professional guidance and are familiar with the anatomical features of the eye area. They know how to pigment safely with the right technique and depth of application - without damaging sensitive structures such as the eyelid margin or the Meibomian glands.
Hygiene, product selection and information are crucial
Responsible PMU professionals attach great importance to hygienically perfect work, comprehensive medical history and information as well as careful aftercare. They only use pigments that have been tested and classified as safe by the European Chemicals Agency in accordance with the REACH regulation.

Our attitude: quality before compromise
We recommend that all PMU stylists undergo continuous training and only work with high-quality, certified products. We advise customers to take a conscious look at the training, experience and product selection of their practitioners.
As a manufacturer and PMU Academy, we place everything under one clear principle: quality and safety. These values may be less glamorous than the spotlight of some social media trends - but they deliver what really matters: long-term, natural results that save customers time and prove themselves in every situation. With more responsibility and less risk.
